(Note: These apps are often accessible to minors without proper age verification.)
What are these apps?
These are online tools that use artificial intelligence to digitally alter images—removing clothing, changing facial expressions, and adding explicit elements—creating highly realistic, sexualized “deepfake” content. While marketed as “fun” or “artistic,” these apps are frequently used to create non-consensual and abusive images, often targeting minors.
What parents should watch out for:
Exploitation of children’s photos
Any public image, even from social media, can be manipulated into explicit content. This can happen without the knowledge or consent of the person in the photo.
Peer bullying and online humiliation
These images are increasingly used for bullying, blackmail, or public shaming. Victims—often young girls—may face anxiety, depression, or even suicidal thoughts.
Legal risks
Creating, possessing, or sharing explicit images of minors—even if digitally altered—is illegal in many countries. Kids using such apps may unknowingly commit serious crimes.
False sense of anonymity
These platforms often store uploaded images on remote servers, collect IP addresses and device data, and have little transparency. Even if they don’t require registration, nothing is truly private.
Key technical concerns:
- AI-generated nudity or deepfake realism
- No child safety features or identity checks
- Uploaded images are stored permanently
- Promoted via TikTok, Reddit, and Discord
Advice for parents:
Educate children about harm and legality
These aren’t harmless games. Explain that creating or sharing such content can destroy lives—and lead to legal consequences.
Encourage empathy and respect
Remind them that real people are behind every photo. Using someone’s image without permission is a violation of their dignity and rights.
Monitor app downloads and behavior changes
Pay attention to unknown or oddly named apps. Have open, non-judgmental conversations before jumping to conclusions.
Report abusive content
If you see an altered photo being circulated, report it immediately to www.netpatrola.rs or the authorities.
