Get Involved! – Day Care for Children in Conflict with the Law, Parents, School, or Community is a project aimed at supporting children and youth with behavioral problems and their foster families through psychosocial and educational workshops, strengthening professional capacities, and improving social integration. The project aimed to reduce the risk of social exclusion, empower participants, and strengthen mutual trust within families and foster communities.
Preparatory activities included professional trainings, practical work, continuous cooperation with the Novi Sad Center for Social Work and the Center for Foster Care and Adoption Novi Sad, as well as technical improvements to the facility. A multidisciplinary team from the Center for Missing and Exploited Children—comprising a psychologist, special educator, and social worker—designed and implemented psychosocial and educational workshops for children and foster parents, contributing to the development of children’s social and emotional competencies and strengthening foster parents’ capacities through trust-building and support.
The work with the target group included the selection of ten beneficiaries, tailoring activities to their needs, and the implementation of the program event held on October 28, 2025, at the Center’s premises in Novi Sad. Activities included the educational workshop “Digital Traps” for children and foster parents, focusing on digital literacy, online risk recognition, and safe internet use, as well as workshops “Am I Taking a Risk?” and “Acceptable and Unacceptable Behavior” for children, which helped them develop self-confidence, recognize social risks, and practice healthier and more responsible reactions. Foster parents participated in guided discussions, sharing experiences and developing strategies for calmer communication, setting boundaries, and providing adequate support. The final workshop “Team Spirit” enabled joint activities for children and foster parents, strengthening trust, acceptance, and cooperation.
These workshops contributed to strengthening children’s social and emotional skills, increasing self-confidence and healthy decision-making abilities, and empowering foster parents to provide effective support—representing a significant step toward risk prevention and improved social integration.
The project was implemented from September 1 to October 31, 2025, with the support of the City of Novi Sad – City Administration for Child and Social Protection.
