The goal of the “Get Involved!” project was to reduce the risk of social exclusion and marginalization of children and youth with behavioral problems by providing comprehensive psychosocial support and empowering both beneficiaries and their families. The project focused on developing social and emotional competencies, promoting responsible behavior, and strengthening family and support system capacities.
The project implemented a social welfare service—day care for children and youth in conflict with the law, parents, school, or community—based on referrals from the Center for Social Work. The program applied an individualized approach and included psychosocial counseling, learning support, assistance with school assignments, psychosocial and occupational workshops, as well as cultural, sports, and creative activities. Activities were delivered by a multidisciplinary team of licensed professionals: a psychologist, social worker, special educator, and lawyer, in continuous cooperation with social welfare institutions.
Through the project, children and youth improved their social and emotional skills, strengthened self-confidence and responsible decision-making, while parents and guardians were empowered to provide adequate support. The project contributed to preventing the recurrence of risky and socially unacceptable behaviors, improving cooperation between families and institutions, and supporting successful social integration.
The project “Get Involved! – Day Care for Children in Conflict with the Law, Parents, School, or Community” was implemented by the Center for Missing and Exploited Children from June to December 2025, with the support of the City of Novi Sad – City Administration for Social and Child Protection.
