Meeting with the Minister of Interior, Ivica Dačić

Today, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Interior between Minister Ivica Dačić and Igor Jurić, founder of the Center for Missing and Exploited Children. They discussed key issues related to child safety, reviewed the results from the previous period, and began planning future collaborative activities.

“I am very grateful to Minister Ivica Dačić and all the officials at the Ministry of Interior for the meeting and their commitment to continue the collaboration,” stated Igor Jurić.

During the meeting, Minister Dačić and Igor Jurić agreed on the need to improve the ‘Find Me’ system. In this regard, Minister Dačić stated that the process of signing the contract between Rakuten, the company behind the Viber app, and the Ministry of Interior will be completed in the coming days. This will be the first step toward enhancing the functionality of the system.

Igor Jurić also emphasized the importance of a publicly accessible missing persons register during the meeting, highlighting that this is a key advocacy focus for the Center for Missing and Exploited Children in the upcoming period.

‘I found Minister Dačić to be understanding regarding the public missing persons register. This issue is not only related to missing children but also to missing adults, many of whom suffer from dementia and other health problems,’ Jurić explained. He added that public access to such a register is operational in over 90% of European countries, which is crucial for more effective missing persons recovery.

Minister Dačić confirmed that preventive activities related to child welfare are essential and that there are plans to continue collaborative efforts to enhance the safety of the youngest members of society, particularly in the context of combating domestic and online violence.

‘I am pleased with the improvement in collaboration regarding child safety online, where our Net Patrol is doing a commendable job. I believe we can be of great assistance in uncovering sexual predators in our country, the region, and beyond, with the support of the Ministry of Interior,’ Jurić concluded.
