Institutional support

The project was implemented with the general aim of enhancing the influence of civil society on public authorities and improving practices in the field of child safety protection in line with European standards, along with increased public participation in the decision-making process.

The project was carried out during 2018-2019 with financial support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency – SIDA within the framework of the BOŠ project “Civil Society for Serbia’s Accession to the European Union”.

The project resulted in improved human resources, internal procedures, and the Foundation’s network of collaborators; enhanced dialogue with public authorities; and improvement of legal and police mechanisms for child safety in accordance with good European practices. Additionally, there was increased public awareness and participation regarding security risks faced by children.

As a comprehensive outcome of this project, two new initiatives were launched to amend legal acts and practical mechanisms regulating legal and security aspects of child protection – one aiming to increase penalties for the most serious criminal offenses against children, and the other aiming to introduce a unified system for public alerts in cases of missing children.

The project was implemented from March 1, 2017, to September 30, 2017, with financial support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency – SIDA within the framework of the BOŠ project “Civil Society for Serbia’s Accession to the European Union”.
